You want a movie that is oblivious about the normal social norms? Well I guess you’ve got to see John Cameron Mitchell’s 2006 movie entitled Shortbus. A friend of mine actually introduced me to this movie along with a group of friends. We watched the film simply because we are intrigued about what our friend said about the movie’s nature. And we all really got shocked! Yes, Shortbus is not your ordinary ‘barkada’ movie experience. It’s hilarious, sexy, and well, sometimes too sexy to be watched publicly.

The Shortbus Plot

The story revolves around a s-e-xually diverse ensemble of emotionally challenged people trying desperately to connect in bohemian New York City. The characters converge on a weekly Brooklyn artistic/sexual salon loosely inspired by various underground NYC gatherings that took place in the early 2000s. According to Mitchell, the film attempts to “employ sex in new cinematic ways”, and it includes a variety of explicit scenes of sexuality.
