Mag-ingat Ka Sa Kulam - Movie Review
It seems that Judy Ann Santos‘ star doesn’t sparkle as brightly as it should be when she’s not with Star Cinema. Remember Ploning? Quija? And now, Mag-ingat Ka Sa Kulam? Why am I saying this? Because there’s just not enough advertising power to deliver the product to the masses. Even with a name as huge as Juday, things get a little bleak when she’s not under Star Cinema’s impressive marketing prowess. Just expressing.
Okay, enough with that and let’s get into business. Judy Ann Santos‘ latest horror flick Mag-ingat Ka Sa Kulam desperately borders on ordinary and bland. There’s just not enough ingredients to make this a good horror film.
Firstly, the scary scenes are not scary at all. Trust me, I am one scaredy cat. I easily get scared. I almost thanked this movie for not scaring the hell-ata me but later on I realized,”Hey this is a horror movie, right?”
Secondly, the plot is kinda boring and the opening sequences leave so much to be desired. And please, the ’scare’ tactics are very much copied from other Asian flicks. Not copied very well I must add. More like second-rate trying-hard copycat.
Well, I must give credit where credit is due. Judy Ann Santos and TJ Trinidad were fantastic in the portrayal of their limited roles. I also would like to give Kris Bernal and Mart Escudero a bitch-slap for making me forget what their roles were all about. And thank you Dennis Trillo for gracing the screen in your see-through pajamas. That just made the whole film less scary.
The film has its saving moments as well, to be fair. The visual effects are somewhat okay. Sharlene San Pedro was also quite okay to watch. I was looking for an opportunity to be scared (though I kinda tried to avoid it as much as possible) and released a sigh of relief when I found out that I could watch the film with eyes wide open cause it’s not that freaky. (GRIN). Yeah, I’m weird.
So for people like me who want to watch a horror film sans the hassle of covering your eyes and ears, you might as well enjoy Mag-ingat Ka Sa Kulam.

Sa totoo lang OA talaga ang horror film na ito. Kakabwisit talaga. Sayang ang pera ko. Hoy kung di kayo agree sa review eh di manigas kayo. Gumawa kayo ng sarili nyong review mga boba!
Ay may away? Kanya-kanya lang yan. Ako naman okay naman ang movie. Natakot yung friend ko sobra. Ang sarap ni Dennis Trillo. Super nipis yung pajama nya..Yummy!

I don’t agree with your review! I do respect how you see it though but this film is undoubtedly the BEST horror film I’ve ever seen. Kudos to Jun Lana, Judy Ann Santos and Mother Lily Monteverde. More films of the same caliber please. Good job!!!

kinda got disappointed coz the write-ups highly acclaimed this damn movie. argh.
