I.T.A.L.Y. opens at 17 Million?

A friend of mine forwarded me this text message just a while ago. It is about the current GMA Films’ comedy flick I.T.A.L.Y. (I Trust And Love You) which allegedly grossed P17 million on its opening day.
The text message said that GMA Films P35 million budget cruise comedy I.T.A.LY. grosses a phenomenal P17 million on its 1st day of showing. It added that the opening day gross surpassed GMA Films’ expectation.
If this text message is true, I.T.A.L.Y. would have beaten Star Cinema’s A Very Special Love, and For The First Time. The flick stars Dennis Trillo, Jolina Magdangal, Rufa Mae Quinto, and Eugene Domingo.
I find this text message weird. First and foremost, the effort to boast about the earnings borders on desperation and deception. I am skeptical about this, considering the fact that none of my friends would even dare to watch the film. Well, I dared to invite them to watch the flick but they so vehemently declined because they think the trailer looks too cheap to even bother. It so happens that my friends have better taste in movies than I have, so that’s really bound to happen.
Anyway, I don’t believe it. This claim just sounds too good to be true. We need more than just a text message to believe claims as huge as this, don’t we?
