Hady Mirza - first ever Asian Idol

Singapore Idol Hady Mirza became the first Asian Idol beating five other Idol contestants from Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and India. The competition took place at Jakarta, Indonesia last December 16, 2007.

Mirza, 27, sang U2’s Beautiful Day and Berserah, and earned the most number of votes and won the title. Nobody was expecting Hady’s win. Not even the judges. Favorites were actually Mau Marcelo of the Philippines and Mike Mohede of Indonesia.
