Movie Review: Silip
I was quite bored last night so I opted to watch a movie alone. Yeah, every one needs some time alone once in a while. Besides, I can understand the movie better when I watch it alone than with the whole gang around. Especially if it’s Silip you are planning to watch. This movie needs undivided attention you know, considering that I have to force myself to be objective in order to grasp what the film’s strengths and weaknesses are.
Okay, I give up. The characters are too hot for me to keep an objective mind. I have to commend Diana Zubiri for a job well done. Well, she is not the best actress for the role, but she did give justice to its character and portrayed the role effectively.
Silip is a movie directed by Joel Lamangan and it depicts a struggle of a young woman to protect herself against her own inner demons. And with the help of her loving husband, she was able to overcome her defect and went on living a normal life. However, it seems that her malady runs in the family, and poses another challenge for the couple when that inner demon began to set its eyes on their son.
The film is sexy and somewhat scary at the same time. Francine Prieto was quite good in her role, though Polo Ravales needs to step up his game some more. His acting skills are still raw but viewers will be pleased by Polo’s numerous butt exposures, that compensate his artistic shortcomings.
Silip is not just about sex. It has something else to offer. Something that not everyone may find really engrossing but it’s something that is far superior than the previous sexy films that have super shallow plots to begin with. I must say Seiko films made a good comeback on this one.
